The ACT Government Cabinet members will take part in a unique ‘pop-up’ Cabinet in the Woden Town Centre on Wednesday 2 September and Thursday 3 September.

Over the two days, Cabinet members will meet directly with the local Woden community to discuss the issues that matter most to them. We are always looking for new and innovative ways to engage with Canberrans, and to make it as easy as possible for the public to meet and speak with their Ministers.

The Woden ‘Pop-up’ Cabinet will be the first in a series of events that will see Government Ministers run the territory from Woden, Belconnen, Tuggeranong and Gungahlin. The first Pop-up Cabinet will give Woden, Weston Creek and Molonglo Valley residents the opportunity to meet their Ministers and have their say on local issues that are important to them.

Throughout the two days, Cabinet members will be out in Woden and available to the community to discuss local issues. Government representatives will be on hand between 9 and 3pm on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 September at the Pop-up Cabinet stand in Westfield Woden, located on the ground level near JB Hi-Fi. But the community should keep an eye out for my colleagues and me around the town centre and feel free to come up for a chat.

There will also be three key events during the Woden Pop-up Cabinet for community representatives to meet with the Ministers, including “speed meeting” with a Minister for a one-on-one discussion, a Woden business forum and a roundtable discussion with community services providers in the Woden area.

Speed meet the MinisterAs part of pop-up cabinet, all residents of Woden, Weston Creek and Molonglo Valley are invited to make a 15 minute appointment to “speed meet a Minister” and discuss any issue that is important to them. These meetings will take place between 11:30am-1pm on Wednesday 2 September.  Registrations to Speed Meet the Minister are now available online.

Woden business forumThe ACT Government is committed to supporting local businesses in our town centres and local shopping centres, and the Woden business forum is an opportunity for business owners from Woden, Weston Creek and Molonglo Valley to talk directly with government about issues important to them and how the ACT Government can help. The business forum is on Wednesday 2 September from 3 – 4.30pm. Businesses can register online to attend.

Community services roundtableOrganisations providing community services in Woden, Weston Creek and Molonglo Valley are also invited to participate in a roundtable discussion with Ministers about the future of community services in the Woden area.  The community services roundtable will allow local service providers to speak with Ministers about how government can ensure strong and supportive services are being provided to those in our community who need it most.
