The ACT Government is continuing to build strong ties with educational institutions in Asia with applications opening for the 2015 Global Leadership Practices Program (GLPP) scholarship to China, with the program now including India as well.
Following its success last year, Yellow Edge has expanded its partnership with the ACT Government to offer two passionate Canberra residents the opportunity to attend innovative programs for leaders presented by the China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong (CELAP) in Shanghai, and the Welingkar Institute in Bangalore, India.
The ACT is Australia’s higher education and research capital- with one out of every nine Canberra residents either studying or employed within the tertiary education sector. These scholarships will allow two Canberra residents to further their knowledge and skills in two of the world’s fastest growing economies- bringing those experiences back to the ACT.
Yellow Edge Chief Executive Andrew Simon said attending the Global Leadership Practices Program would be highly valuable for professionals with an interest in Australia’s relationship with China or India, and in developing leadership skills and global networks.
“Each year Yellow Edge presents three global leadership programs, to China, India and the USA because each of these countries has a material impact on Australia’s economic well-being and it’s in our interest to better understand how these countries work,” said Mr Simon.
“Scholarship recipients on the China and India programmes will receive access to senior leaders, leading academics and Government advisors. The successful candidates will leave the programme equipped with a deeper and privileged insight into the Chinese and Indian business, social, economic and political contexts.
“I encourage anyone from the business and community sectors with strong leadership skills, enthusiasm for Canberra and an interest in the impact that China or India have on Australia to apply before applications close on July 20,” Mr Simon concluded.
The scholarships are being offered as part of the ACT Government’s StudyCanberra initiative, which seeks to promote Canberra as a study destination and to increase the capacity of ACT tertiary education for research, innovation and collaboration. The successful candidates will also play an important role in spreading the StudyCanberra message of Canberra as Australia’s university town during their time in China or India.
