Canberrans are reminded that there is only one week left to share their views on three important community consultations; planning reforms to enable the University of Canberra to expand and grow; feedback on the Taxi Industry Innovation Review; and the design of West Basin waterfront at Lake Burley Griffin . All three consultations close on Monday 29 June 2015.
The ACT Government is committed to engaging the Canberra community in the development and delivery of its policies, programs, public works and services. Community consultation is an important way for us to gain insights and hear the opinions that help us shape our decisions. I encourage you all to get involved and have your say on these three city changing projects.
University of Canberra
The University of Canberra (UC) Territory Plan Variation 347 is currently open for consultation as part of an ambitious program of reforms to boost the higher education sector and secure Canberra’s position as Australia’s education and knowledge capital. Canberrans are invited to give their comments on the proposed variation which will help UC continue its growth and remain competitive.
Taxi Industry Innovation Review
Canberrans can submit a response to the public discussion paper, Taxi Industry Innovation Review, which has been developed with the assistance of the local taxi and hire-car industry and stakeholders. The public consultation gives Canberrans the opportunity to provide their feedback on the current taxi system and for us to understand their views on how new technologies can offer accessible and safe passenger experiences. We need to consider how the industry may change, while allowing new operators a level playing field with existing taxis and hire cars.
West Basin waterfront at Lake Burley Griffin
The West Basin waterfront at Lake Burley Griffin is a central component of the City to the Lake project. When complete the waterfront will be a vibrant destination, where Canberrans and visitors can meet, celebrate and have fun. The precinct will include new parks, cafes, restaurants, plazas and streets for the community to use and enjoy. You can have provide feedback on the proposed design, or have your say on the types of commercial activities, community facilities and events you would like to see at West Basin in the future.
The ACT Government has also developed a new interactive map to make it even easier for the community to have their say on the West Basin waterfront. The map allows you to see what others are saying about the project. You can also agree or disagree with other comments posted, by pressing the thumbs up or thumbs down symbol. For more information on the City to the Lake project, or to have your say on the proposed West Basin waterfront design, visit the City to the Lake website.
All three consultations are available for comment via the ACT Government’s Time to Talk website until Monday 29 June 2015.
