Applications are now open for not-for-profit community groups in the ACT to apply for zero interest loans for up to $15,000 through the Sustainable Household Scheme.

Eligible community groups can use the loans to make sustainable upgrades to their premises or purchase an electric vehicle to reduce energy costs and the impact of greenhouse gas emissions in the ACT. Groups can choose to purchase one or multiple eligible products with a maximum loan term of up to 10 years.

The scheme has been hugely successful in ensuring more Canberrans benefit from a net zero emission future. The expansion of the scheme will help community organisations make small and large changes that can lead to positive impacts for the organisation and our community.

More than 7,000 households have already applied for a loan through the Scheme to help with the upfront costs of investing in sustainable products. These upgrades include rooftop solar panels, household battery storage, zero emission vehicles and efficient electric household appliances.

To read the T & C’s and guidelines or find out more about how to apply for a loan on the Everyday Climate Choices website.

This initiative is part of the ACT Labor-Greens Government’s commitment to Climate Action through the Parliamentary Agreement of the 10th Legislative Assembly.

Quotes attributable to Katherine McConnell, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Brighte:

The ACT sustainable household scheme has been hugely popular. We’re delighted to welcome community organisations who want to upgrade their premises with solar and sustainable equipment to now participate in the scheme and help bring sustainable benefits back to their communities.

Solar is the gateway to reduce energy bills and make more sustainable choices for the environment and the communities in which we live.
