After just 100 days the Government is already delivering what we were elected to do: building better schools, constructing an integrated transport system to keep Canberra moving and providing essential healthcare where people need it.

Our first 100 days of government have included some major milestones, including working to remove hurdles to organ donation, starting work on stage two of the city-defining light rail network from Civic to Woden and beginning the process to provide new tech devices for every high school student in the ACT.

We’ve started work towards the new nurse-led walk-in health centres, set a start date for the first Canberrans to receive a green bin service, we’ve created the Office of LGBTIQ Affairs and we’ve started to implement our plan for world-class urban renewal and suburban development.

Canberrans voted for a progressive, positive and outward-looking city where everyone is welcome and where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The government is working hard and smart to deliver this. In the first 100 days as part of delivering our election commitments and Parliamentary Agreement items, the ACT Government has:

  • Funded significant work on light rail stage two from Civic to Woden;
  • Launched the new ACT Office for Disability;
  • Funded free off-peak bus travel for seniors and concession card holders;
  • Created the Office of LGBTIQ Affairs for the ACT;
  • Funded the Floriade Fringe festival;
  • Given Kambah and Weston Creek residents clear start dates for the arrival of their green waste bins;
  • Funded the Safe Schools program;
  • Committed to helping Canberrans to become organ donors more easily;
  • Started the process to provide new technology devices for all ACT public high school students;
  • Signed up to the international Under2MOU and set a zero net emissions target of 2050 at the latest;
  • Continued funding for the Art Not Apart festival;
  • Opened Expressions of Interest for the Medicinal Cannabis Program’s Expert Advisory Committee;
  • Started work towards new nurse-led walk-in centres;
  • Delivered an Australian-first public transport partnership between the Night Rider service and Uber;
  • Funded consultations on a new ice sports facility in south Canberra;
  • Started to create a new authority to manage urban renewal projects and a new green field land release agency;
  • Begun discussions with NSW Government regarding moving the ACT/NSW border in West Belconnen;
  • Designed improved Development Application signage;
  • Invited eco-tourism partners to help make better use of Canberra’s natural assets;
  • Established a committee to advise on establishment of an Integrity Commissioner;
  • Employed Emergency Services Agency welfare manager;
  • Started work to establish an Office of Mental Health;
  • Secured funding for the Environmental Defenders’ Office ACT;
  • Restructured and expanded the Disability Reference Group;
  • Progressed major infrastructure upgrades at public schools and colleges;
  • Announced formation of Multicultural Advisory Council, calling for applications this month;
  • Established Canberra’s first NeuroMoves program;
  • Started work on a new Carers Strategy;
  • Consulted with a range of stakeholders on new approaches to affordable housing; and
  • Delivered a summer swimming pool safety awareness campaign.
