The Melbourne Musical Theatre Festival (MMTF) will make its theatrical debut in 2017, with a swag of affordable musical theatre productions, suitable for all ages.
The festival aims to make musical theatre accessible, to showcase new works, and to provide a platform for professional and aspiring writers, composers, producers, directors, designers, and performers.
Shows staged as part of the festival will include classics such as Some Enchanted Evening, edgy new works such as Chriss Crossed and a range of ‘fractured’ fairy tales that will appeal to children, but that are distorted enough to all have adults tuned in as well.
The MMTF will also play host to workshops, classes, and interactive productions (yet to be announced) and the entire event will be staged at the Athenaeum Theatre, one of Melbourne’s oldest, most recognised venues. 6 – 28 January, 2017. 188 Collins St, Melbourne.
