Buck Mulligan’s sees the bohemian marriage of two of Melbourne’s hedonistic friends – literature and whisky – in the form of a boutique whiskey bar, bookshop and cafe.
Opening in the effortlessly hipster neighbourhood of Northcote in November 2016, the new venture epitomises the city’s entrepreneurial underbelly while playing to two of Melbourne’s divergent strengths: its bar and literary cultures.
The three-leafed ‘Irish Whisky Bar and Irish Speciality Bookshop with Cafe’ proposes the largest selection of Irish whiskies in Melbourne – plus a heady offering of the very best whiskies from Scotland, Tasmania, Japan and the US – and bookshelves lined with Irish and Australian titles. In keeping with the Celtic theme, a cafe menu will include smoked salmon, black pudding and cheeseboards served until late. Whisky tastings and book events will also be catered for in a small ‘snug’.
