Are you looking for a unique way to ring in the New Year? Or, are you stumped for fun school holiday activities that will entertain your tribe? If you answered yes, we strongly suggest that you visit the Southern Hemisphere’s largest lights display, Christmas Lights Spectacular.

Held at the stunning Hunter Valley Gardens, which is just a short two-hour drive from Sydney, the event is running until 26th January 2020. Guests can enjoy over three million sparkling lights, and 20 unique and immersive displays as they wander through the immaculate grounds.

All of the fan-favourites have returned and are shining bright, including the eight-metre-tall Mega Christmas tree, Candy Land, Walk-Through Bauble, Around the World, Princess Castle and the Giant Teddy display. Other picks that you must tick off your list include the Story Book Garden, visiting Humpty Dumpty, getting your photo taken on the big red chair and sending your present wishlist to the North Pole (until Christmas Eve).

To add an extra touch of magic to your holiday period, revellers can enjoy a number of new displays. The Magic Castle stands an impressive 5 metres high and 15 metres wide, with a walk-through tunnel to journey. There are additional, illuminated tunnels on either side, so you can really soak up the dazzling energy at this display. You can then venture over to ‘Snowy’ the Snowman, where you can walk through its 8m high belly, and the White Christmas display where you’ll revel in the illuminated polar bears, penguins and sleigh dogs within the Snow Cave.

Another standout is the Lover’s Corner which has been touted the 2019 favourite so far. To top it off, lovers can take a stroll through the heart tunnel and enjoy a kiss under the mistletoe.

Although the sparkling lights are the main reason for guests’ visits, they stay for the outstanding entertainment, activities and amusement rides. Over the summer period, The Jolly Pirates – Summer Time Adventure Show, will entertain those young at heart. The show consists of two fun characters – Pirate Ted and Pirate Diggs, along with leads Lizzy and Stacy.

For only $15 per person (in addition to entry), eventgoers can also enjoy unlimited rides! Adrenaline junkies will love their Swing Chair, as they fly high at 11 metres above the lights, and the 35-metre long Superslide, where you’ll grab a colourful mat and race your mates. To satisfy your energetic child or family member, don’t look past the Inflatable Zone, where they can jump on 3 jumping castles and 3 other inflatables. There is also a smaller inflatable section for toddlers so they can jump in peace, without getting bombarded. They’ll have a ball as they race each other, climb and slide till their heart’s content.

For the youngsters, they’ll adore the traditional Venetian Carousel, which has beautiful illustrations and designs. Made specially in Italy for the Gardens, this nostalgic ride is as beautiful as it is fun. Last but not least, you can take in the Gardens from the spectacular 25-metre-high Ferris Wheel. This is a popular family ride!

Also, to celebrate summer magic, balmy evenings and Christmas sparkle, Hunter Valley Gardens are also giving you the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime, private evening under the stars. Simply by entering here, you will enjoy the lights from a private oasis with delectable food and Australian sparkling. To round out the experience, they’re also offering you a night of free accommodation and a sunrise hot air balloon flight. Terms and conditions apply.

Please note: Gates will open at 5.30pm and will close at 10.00pm.
