For anyone planning an exciting motorhome hire journey to the vast Australian Outback, you are certainly in for the trip of a lifetime. This wondrous region is one of the top spots on the wish lists of many a camper and holds so many thrilling activities and stunning sites that campers often have issues planning their trips since it’s tough to fit it all in. When you’re doing your planning for your trip, one thing you might overlook in the excitement is your personal safety while on your outback journey. Never forget that you will be many miles from the nearest town or hospital plus will be exposed to extreme weather conditions throughout your journey. You will be far away from supply stores, food and water, and places to get your motorhome fixed. Fortunately, staying safe in the outback can be as easy as simply packing the right supplies along for your trip. These supplies will come in handy in the case of personal injuries or campervan troubles and will go a long way toward assuring your safety on your outback journey.

Pack A Set Of Basic Tools

One thing you don’t want is to break down and become stranded in the outback. This is why it is a must to pack essentials such as basic wrenches on your trip. Just one wrench may be the difference between a temporary setback and being stuck on the side of the road for days on end. The outback is an expansive region what is irregularly patrolled and has very few vehicles passing through some areas. Tools can even help outside of the campervan as well, for example if you’re having trouble with a tent setup. This narrows down your chances for help in a breakdown situation, meaning you will have to go into do it yourself mode if you want to get back up and moving. It will be hard to do this without basic tools, so make sure to have them should your campervan experience troubles.

Bring Both Warm And Cold Weather Clothing

No matter if you are traveling in the summer or winter, you will want to pack clothes for you and your family for all types of weather. Even in the dead of summer, storms and temperature drops can come quickly and leave you feeling chilly and exposed. The last thing you want is a flu or worse on your journey, so always make sure to bring plenty of different types of clothes in your vehicle that will be good for all types of weather. The key here is having enough items for everyone in your traveling party, so count up your travelers and make sure to have enough extra clothing on hand to keep everyone warm should you hit unexpected bad weather or become stranded.

A Basic First Aid Kit

You don’t need to go overboard here, but you are definitely going to want to bring some basic first aid items along on your trip. Chances are you will be miles from the nearest hospital, and there are a variety of different types of injuries you can sustain in the outback. When you are so far from help, even a cut or sprain can be a major issue, so make sure to take splints, bandages, and disinfectant. Plus you will want to bring items in your motorhome hire such as snakebite kits if you will be hiking in the forests and desert regions.

Bring Along Devices And Multiple Chargers

Keep in mind that you will be moving through some incredibly remote areas when traveling in this region. There are parts of the outback that are so sparsely populated that you won’t see anyone for miles. There will be no other cars on the road and no towns to pass through. This is why it is always incredibly important to have your devices fully charged and ready. These will be your only contact with the outside world when traveling in remote regions. Since many of these areas may not have cell phone service, it is recommended to invest in a hotspot device so you can hook up to wifi at all times in case you need to call for help or look up directions. It is also a good idea to invest in a multiport charger so that you can keep multiple devices fully charged at all times.

There are plenty of things that can go wrong on an outback journey, including accidents and injuries, that will be made even more disastrous due to the fact that you will be a remote region potentially many miles from the nearest source for help. Due to the remoteness and dangers associated with the region, there are some simple safety steps that should be kept in place, including packing the right gear, that will go a long way toward ensuring your safety on your outback adventure.
